Research Details:
This is my doctoral research. I employ 3D drawings in virtual-reality to help uncover spacecraft orbits in highly nonlinear multi-body systems. I also leverage artificial intelligence to help numerically characterize the nonlinear nature of spacecraft motion in these systems. 3D drawings help the AI algorithms in narrowing down the search space to identify feasible/optimal orbits for a given mission. So far I have demonstrated that periodic orbits with a known reference orbit can be recovered in my research for the past year. The work from the past one year culminated in a journal publication currently under review from Acta Astronautica. Work continues to build on the current results to fully realize the identification of unknown orbits for a given mission using 3D drawings in virtual-reality.
